With two sons living locally and five grandchildren, Rowenna and Peter were keen to stay in the area so when the property at Richmond Court became available they didn’t hesitate. The first floor maisonette came with a Stannah stairlift already installed. In fact, the starilift had been there since 1986 serving a number of occupants over the years. Although neither Rowenna nor Peter actually needed a stairlift at the time they were happy to have it there, wisely thinking that in the future it might come in handy.
When Rowenna had a stroke not long afterwards she was really grateful that getting in and out of their lovely home was not an issue. These days, she is able to use the stairs if she wants to but having the lift takes the strain out of life. The couple both use it and also find it handy to get shopping or washing upstairs too. The grandchildren call it “Nanny’s magic chair”.
