Stannah celebrates 40 years of stairlifts

World-leading stairlift manufacturer Stannah will this year celebrate its 40th anniversary in the stairlift market.

Stannah manufactured its first stairlift in 1975, producing 66 in its first year.

Since then it has sold over 500,000 and established a reputation for making the world's most reliable and safe stairlifts.

The company now employs 1,700 people worldwide, exports to over 40 countries and has 9 subsidiaries.

Stannah is celebrating this momentous occasion through a series of special events that will be revealed to staff, customers and the public throughout the year.

Prior to moving into the stairlift market Stannah was primarily a commercial lift business. It was founded in 1867 by Joseph Stannah to create hoists to help move ship's cargo and has been innovating with new lift products ever since. Today the company produces both commercial lifts and stairlifts.
